AV精品 shares success stories with World Congress

As more than 1,500 delegates from higher-learning institutions around the world gathered for the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) World Congress in Montreal April 23-25, AV精品 shared two of its success stories with the global audience.

AV精品’s Applied Research and Innovation department, celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023, was in the spotlight for its work in facilitating strategic partnerships, and the College’s School of Arts and Community and Protective Services highlighted the Outdoor Play pedagogy developed for the Early Childhood Education program.

“The talent and leadership of our academic staff have transformed lives and communities in New Brunswick for the last 50 years,” said Ann Drennan, Vice President Academic, Innovation, and Student Affairs. “We were thrilled to share AV精品’s innovative delivery of education that works on the global stage at World Congress 2023.”

Diane Burt, newly retired from the post of Director of Applied Research and Innovation at AV精品, presented a session on best practices in initiating, developing, and sustaining strong partnerships in applied research and innovation to increase the competitiveness of Atlantic Canada’s industries.

“We know how important industry and community stakeholders are to the work we do,” said Burt. “We also know collaboration drives innovation and socio-economic growth. Stakeholder engagement means involving people who are invested in us and interacting to benefit one another.”

Karen White-O’Connell, Dean of the School of Arts, Community and Protective Services and instructor Tammie Hachey-Bell presented the outdoor classroom project established by the Early Childhood Education program at AV精品 Woodstock Campus. The outdoor classroom was made possible through a partnership with Okanagan College and funding from the Lawson Foundation.

“Early childhood educators play an essential role in shaping children's lifelong views of learning,” said White-O’Connell. “When children play outdoors in nature, it has been shown to positively impact their overall development and well-being.”
